Shahid Kapoor – Deepika Padukone in Heer and Ranjha
As we earlier reported, director Sabir Khan (Kambakht Ishq fame) have roped in Shahid Kapoor for his upcoming bollywood film “Heer and Ranjha”, and after searching for quite some time he has finally found Deepika Padukone suitable for the role of Heer.
Though the news is confirmed by the manager of Deepika Padukone as well, but as per the sources the actress was reluctant initially to be paired against Shahid Kapoor who is shorter than her in height and she doesn’t like to work with heroes with whom she is not compatible on screen, rather at the time of “Karthik Calling Karthik” also Farhan Akhtar had to stand next to her to show that he is of Deepika’s height.
In a small conversation with FilmiTadka, director Sabir said – “I don't think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero. Any heroine, no matter how tall, is keen to work with Aamir Khan. Dippy has agreed to do the film. I think Shahid and she make a great pair. They've never been paired before.”
He also added – “We opted for Deepika because we needed a face that could look contemporary and classical. Among the current line-up of actresses, only she could measure up to my script's demands. As for Shahid, he's an intense actor. I'm positive this pair can project the pangs of passionate love”.
He also said that as Heer Ranjha draws its inspiration from the folk poems of Punjab, music will play an important role in the movie; we also asked him about the script because as it will be a contemporary take on the legend everyone is curious about the story, but he chose to keep mum about it.
Shahid’s Punjabi winter plans
With his father Pankaj Kapur's movie Mausam rolling soon, Shahid Kapoor is set to spend this year's winter in the northern Indian state of Punjab — the setting of the film.
The schedule will also see Sonam Kapoor joining in. After many years we hear Shahid will be back to his roots and spend quality time in Punjab, approximately 30 days.
The actor, apparently, has also planned what all he would do in the state and places he would like to visit and delicacies he would love to savour.
